Work Experience

Senior Systems Developer - University of Denver (2012 - Present)

  • Designed, developed, and maintained application to disseminate bibliographic and invoice data from the library catalog system. The application allows staff to generate book usage statistics and perform cost analysis on purchased materials. The use of the application decreased the amount of time it takes staff to generate the information.
  • Designed, developed, and maintained application to allow staff to catalog art history images and electronic reserves audio and video files for classroom instruction. The cataloged data is exposed via an API so that the University learning object repository can deliver the content to actively enrolled students. The system allows staff to quickly catalog objects requested by faculty.
  • Lead team of developers in installing, configuring, and migrating archival objects to the University’s archival digital repository (Islandora (Drupal)/Fedora Commons (Java)). Custom migration scripts were developed to migrate descriptive metadata and archived digital objects consisting of images, PDFs, audio, and video files from vendor solution. The project was completed promptly allowing the University to avoid down time and continue to serve researchers throughout the transition.
  • Work with staff from various departments within the academic library to build applications and scripts to optimize departmental workflows.
  • Guided and supervised two developers. Ensured that software best practices were followed and that projects were completed in a timely manner.

Programmer - University of Denver (2005 - 2012)

  • Used open-source technologies such as PHP and MySQL to develop web applications.
  • Designed, developed and maintained book keeping application that retrieved financial data from the library catalog. It calculated invoices and transformed invoice data to insert into the university’s main accounting system.
  • Designed and developed application used to track alumni monetary and book donations as well as contact information. The library’s external relations department uses the application to keep track of alumni and their donations.
  • Met with stakeholders to gather requirements and specification for the library’s web site.
